Passenger Terminals at Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall Airport

BWI airport consists of one u-shaped terminal divided into five concourses named Concourse, B, C, D, and E, and two levels as upper and lower level. The layout of the concourses is designed as horseshoe-shaped, in the center of which a parking garage platform and transportation services are found.

Upper Level

The upper level of the main terminal building is decorated with ticketing and check-in counters, different world-famous dining options and cafes, an observation gallery, etc, which does not let the passengers get bored. This level is directly connected with the daily parking garage by the elevated bridges. Additionally, the curbside of the lower level can be reached with an elevator or escalator. Passengers can access 4 security checkpoints from the upper level.

Lower Level

Concourse A

Connected with 11 gates from A1 to A11, this concourse is used by Southwest Airlines. It is used to operate domestic flights by Southwest Airlines American Airlines and Canada Airlines. Here you will find many retail and food outlets. There is also a VIP lounge (BWI Club) near gate D10 which passengers can use with a daily pass.

Concourse E - International Terminal

Located on the upper level, the concourse consists of 5 gates such as E1, E3, E4, E6 and E8. It is the main hub of international flights as most of the international flights are operated from the terminal. So, it is also known as the International Terminal. It has an official name, Governor William Donald Schaefer International Terminal where you can find one newsstand and one restaurant.

Global Entry

If you want to be enrolled in this program, you have to submit your application form and then need to arrange an interview at the Global Entry Enrollment Center, located at the lower level of the terminal. If you want to get the benefit of this program you should know the enrollment center is open from Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. (office closed from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.).

BWI is not a very large airport, so there is no rail or airside bus to the concourse So passengers can easily cover the walk from the main terminal to the concourse. However, passengers must clear security again to connect between A/B/C Concourse and D/E.

Concourses

There is an approximately 1-kilometer cardiac walking route throughout the Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall Airport, one from both ends of the main terminal and another connecting the concourse A and B.

Taxis operated by the airport are available on the lower level of the airport, next to the baggage claim. Metered taxis can take you far, so these are ideal for short trips.
