The passenger terminals of Los Angeles International Airport

Los Angeles International Airport features a total of 9 terminals numbered 1 through 8 and also has a regional terminal which sits in a U-shaped layout. you will find the double-level road and airport parking inside the U and terminals buildings are located outside of the U.

Terminal 1

Located north-west side of the airport, Terminal 1 features 13 gates and a good selection of shops and dining options inside the secure areaTerminal 1 is directly connected to Terminal 3 and connects . with other terminals inside the secure area. Passengers can move within these connecting terminals without clearing the security again.

Terminals 2 and 3

The departure gates of Terminal 2 and 3 have been merged into Terminal 3, where you will find a security checkpoint and baggage claim. These terminals are also the home of Delta Sky Club, Delta One Lounge (coming in 2024), and Gameway. If you need to connect to TBIT, you can take a ride on the airside shuttle bus which has a designated departs area near gate 21. Terminal 3 consists of a new moving walkway in the secure area which allows the terminal to connect with Terminal B.

Terminal 4

Terminal 4 is primarily used by the American airline which has 8 gates. It is the home of 2 lounges named Admirals Club and Flagship Lounge, located at the upper level. Passengers can connect terminal B from this terminal via walking, through the connector on level 5.

Terminal 5

Terminal 5 is located very near to the Terminal 4 and has 15 gates. There are underground tunnels that connect Terminal 5 to other terminals of LAX Beside these, you will also get the airside shuttle bus that transports passengers to the Regional Terminal. This terminal also features a lounge named Admirals Club is on the upper level.

Terminal 6

Terminal 6 consists of 10 gates and is home to several lounges such as Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge, Alaska Lounge, and Gameway.After clearing the secure area, passengers can freely move to Terminals 6 and 7 via an underground tunnel. Terminals B, 3, or 1 can be accessed through airside connectors.

Terminal 7

Terminal 7 is used by United Airlines operates. This consists of 13 gates and a good variety of concessions. Eligible passengers can use the lounges named United Club near gate 71A and Polaris Lounge located near gate 75A. This terminal can be connected with Terminals 6 and 8 via the airside walkways.

Terminal 8

Terminal 8 has a ticketing area and baggage claim. You can move between the Terminal 8, 7, and southern terminals via a walkway inside the secure area. It serves several airlines such as United Airlines and United Express.

Regional Terminal

Nestles on the west side of the Airport, Regional Terminal refers to the Tom Bradley International Terminal (Terminal B) is the main terminal used for international flights at Los Angeles International Airport – LAX. Terminal B has connector bridges to both Terminal 4 and Terminal 3 for easy connections to the southern and northern terminals. This terminal is connected by a walkway to terminals 7 and 8.

Baggage claim is located on level 1, check-in is on level 3 and departures can be found on level 4. This terminal consists of 19 gates and there, you will find several lounges such as Oneworld Los Angeles Business Lounge, Qantas First Class Lounge, SkyTeam/Korean Air Lounge, Emirates Lounge, and Star Alliance Lounge.

LAX Shuttle Bus (Airline Connections “A” Shuttle)

The Airline Connections “A” Shuttle runs between the terminals 24/7. It is free transportation and marked with a large “A”. The bus usually boards under the blue signs labeled “LAX Shuttle & Airline Connections, at the Lower/Arrivals Level of each terminal. the buses are available every 10 minutes.

1. Walking

LAX’s U-shaped design makes it easy to move within the terminals by walking. you will walk between Terminals 1 to 8 and the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) by both sidewalk and indoor walkways. The walking paths are clearly marked at the terminals.

2. Inter-terminal Transfers

The Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) and Terminal 4 are connected by an airside connector that allow passengers who have valid boarding passes and already cleared the security to walk between these terminals.There, you will find the airside bus service allows the passengers to connect from TBIT to Terminal 4, Terminal 5, or Terminal 6.

3. Future Automated People Mover (APM)

There is a process of constructing an Automated People Mover (APM) system at Los Angeles International Airport, which is expected to be operational by 2024. This system will offer faster and more convenient movement between the central terminal area and other key locations.
